Edit the Schedule in the Timecard
This job aid explains how managers can update an employee’s shift start and/or end times directly from the timecard.
Overview of Making Schedule Edits in the Timecard
Employees often work different hours than their regular schedule. For example, an employee might come to work late due to car problems, stay late to cover for a co-worker who could not complete their shift, or leave their shift early due to illness or family emergency. These discrepancies from their scheduled hours can result in timecard exceptions or even Attendance infractions that managers need to resolve. The ability to edit an employee’s shift start and/or end times directly from the timecard allows managers to remove exceptions easily, and in some cases proactively prevent exceptions from occurring.
Note: Scheduling does not support historical edits and therefore, the timecard will not support editing the schedule in a signed off period.
To Review the Employee’s Schedule from the Timecard:
- Access the employee’s timecard from the Employee Summary, Manage Timecards tile, or other page.
- Right-click the Schedule cell in the row that requires schedule edits. The Schedule Actions glance appears with details about the employee’s scheduled shift.
Edit the Employee’s Scheduled Shift:
- In the schedule glance, select Edit. The Edit Schedule slider opens on the right.
- Enter the updated Start Time, End Time, or both, and select
- Select Save.
Important Considerations:
- Schedule edits saved in the timecard are reflected in the Schedule Planner
- Managers can only update the shift start and/or end times with this feature. They cannot edit shift segments, breaks, or transfer employees from the timecard.
